Eastbourne Dynamos played their first full 11 a side game in a pre season friendly against Division 2 side Wheatsheaf Willingdon. Most of the Team that played have already signed for the club, with the other expecting to before the start of the season.

The Dynamos sported and old Eastbourne United Youth kit as their new Nike kit has yet to arrive. A scrappy opening few minutes saw Wheatsheaf emerge on top as they settle quickest, and found themselves in front with a goal that was a good finish by the striker, but had a slight hint of offside. But with no linesmen, the referee awarded the goal.

Although Eastbourne battled well, and never dropped their heads, they soon found themselves 3-0 down as the defence struggled to settle, and Wheatsheaf showing their experience.

Dynamos did bounce back though, as Wayne Burke's Free Kick was placed right in the danger zone, with Chris Milnes getting the final touch as it went in for Eastbourne Dynamos first Goal.

Before long Eastbourne had a second and were well and truly back in the game. Some good work in the middle of the park by Dean Pugh saw the Dynamos counter attack with some great speed. Taylor was beaten to the through ball by the Wheatsheaf keeper, but his clearance went straight to Pugh, whose first time shot from well outside the area just managed to creep over the keeper and into the net to bring the score to 3-2.

After half time, Wheatsheaf controlled long periods of the game with their fitness a lot better than the Dynamos, although Eastbourne where far better organised in the second half.

Manager Gary Taylor had made a few changes at half time, but kept the shape of the team the same.

Both teams created chances but failed to take them, with Neil Taylor missing more than his fair share of chances.

The only goal of the second half came when Simon Burke in Eastbourne's goal came to meet a poor back pass and was beaten to it by the Wheatsheaf striker. But Burkes momentum took in clattering into the Wheatsheaf striker, injuring both players.

Wheatsheaf were awarded a penalty, while Burke had to be replaced by David Moran in goal, whose first job was to pick the ball out of the net after failing to get near the well taken penalty.

The Dynamos can be pleased with their all round performance, and will look to improve on every performance.
