Eastbourne Dynamos had to play a double header against Cranbrook Town during and Easter weekend in which they already had two games in three days.
The first game saw both sides struggle to settle with the very firm pitch and the very warm weather.
Dynamos did manage to hold Cranbrook in their half, but their attempts on goal failed to test the Town keeper. Eastbourne's defence were looking strong and playing high up the field, which prevented Cranbrook from relieving pressure on their goal.
Dynamos eventually took the lead when Dean Pugh won the ball and found Neil Taylor. Taylor then set Stephen Fletcher through on the edge of the area with a good pass. Fletcher then squared for Pugh to knock into an empty net.
Pugh then turned provider when Mark Likeman launched the ball out to the left wing, Pugh crossed the ball into the area and Taylor managed to control before shooting past the keeper to double Dynamos lead.
The second half of the game saw Dynamos become sloppy in play and seemed to think the game had already been won. They squandered a hand full on chances to put the game beyond any doubt but were wasteful. One chance saw Dave Moran cross the ball from the right towards Taylor, but was unable to gain control of the ball in a crowded area.
Cranbrook had a change in tactics and it seemed to work. Dynamos seemed slow to react to the ball at times and this allowed Cranbrook to attack.
They eventually broke free towards the end of the game and the striker riffled the ball past Martin Bell and into the roof of the net to get the visitors back into the game.
Dynamos were in danger of letting this game slip when realistically they should have had it wrapped up with the number of chances they had.
Eastbourne did manage to find a third and prevent a Cranbrook comeback. Fletcher again beat the defender, this time down the right side of the area, and crossed into the six-yard box when Taylor was standing. The ball fizzed around between Taylor and the defender before eventually finding its way into the net for Taylor to claim his second goal of the game.
Dynamos gained a much needed win, but the action wasn't over, as their had to prepare for their second game of the afternoon.
