The second game of a double header proved a bit feistier than the first. Cranbrook seemed to gain some confidence from the goal they scored towards then end of the first half, and Dynamos still looked like they thought they could cruise the game. Taylor missed a chance to give Dynamos the lead from close range, but the ball went wide of the target. Darren Vine did put Eastbourne into the lead when just outside the area, he picked the ball up centre of goal before beating the oncoming defender and firing through a crowd of players and into the net for his third goal of the season. Dynamos then felt they should have had a penalty when Pugh went racing through on goal only to be barged of the ball by the last defender who had no intention of going for the ball. Dynamos then decided to let their football prove that they were the better team, and scored a second in a pacey attack. Christian Courtier won the ball just inside his own half and found Pugh, who charged forward before slipping the ball to Taylor who managed to stay onside. His cross was met by Fletcher who placed the ball past the keeper for his first goal of the game. Dynamos added a third shortly after, Dynamos had a free kick which was taken by Likeman, but it was too close to the keeper who looked to have collected comfortably, but he dropped the ball and Pugh was the one who reacted first and poked the ball into the net to give Eastbourne a 3-0 lead. Cranbrook managed to get a goal back before half time. Midfield pounced on the ball when Eastbourne failed to clear the ball. The Town player was then stopped in his tracks when Martin Bell dived at his feet and the referee awarded a penalty, as Bell didn't get the ball. Bell did manage to save penalty, but the striker made amends when he blasted in the rebound before anyone else could get to the loose ball. The second half of the game became a little slower with players from both sides now starting to feel tired. But there were still goals and Fletcher was the first of the half when he added his second of the game after picking up Taylor's pass and holding of the attentions from the defender and slotting past the keeper into the bottom right hand corner. Cranbrook then got another after a series of corners were not cleared by Eastbourne, the last saw Bell come out to claim the ball but was beaten in the air by the Cranbrook player, he managed to knock the ball into the net through the two Eastbourne defenders on the line. Eastbourne put the game to rest when Pugh knocked a high ball over the Cranbrook defence as Dynamos counter attacked, Cranbrook failed to deal with the bouncing ball and Taylor calmly knocked it over the keeper and into the net to secure a 5-2 victory for Eastbourne and six points on the day. |
