Eastbourne Dynamos faced J.C. Tackleway in their last league game before next week's free weekend and then embarking on a two-week cup campaign.
Dynamos were looking to get back to winning ways following last week's defeat against Benbow. Manager Gary Taylor fielded the same side that started last weeks game.
Dynamos started the game in confident move and looked to attack whenever they got the chance. They defended high up the pitch, which meant keeper Martin Bell was a spectator for most of the half.
The home side had a few half chances to take the lead, but failed to test the keeper. The visitors had spells where they passed the ball round well, but had little bite up front and the Dynamos defence looked strong and in control.
Eastbourne managed to take the lead when Dean Pugh managed to bypass his marked before finding Neil Taylor in the box. Taylor's good feet helped him round a defender and find enough space to squeeze the ball past the diving keeper and into the net.
Dynamos continued to attack at pace from down both wings and from lofting the ball over the top of the Tackleway defence.
Dayle Courtier saw one effort fly over the bar from outside the area, while Jamie Drummond and Neil Taylor both saw efforts saved by the keeper and go while. Pugh also saw one effort go wide with only the keeper to beat.
The second half saw much of the same, but the game did become a lot more stretched. Jamie Drummond missed a good chance to double the lead, after Taylor picked up James Dale's pass and crossed to the back post. Drummond failed to connect fully with the ball and the ball bounced wide.
Neil Taylor then missed his own chance to double the lead. A good Dynamos passing moved ended Taylor heading the ball goal wards following Pugh's cross from the left, but the ball deflected the wrong side of the post.
Dynamos continued to venture forward looking to extend their lead, but wasted chances. In the end the solitary goal was enough to secure Eastbourne with their third win in four games in a match that was one of the friendliest and well fought games they have played in. Another defeat for Tackleway means they are still at the foot of the table, but showed signs that they might not be there for long. If Tackleway maybe had a target man, their attack seemed a little blunt, but other than that, looked a good footballing team.
