Eastbourne Dynamos returned to league action this weekend when Wadhurst were the visitors to Old Town rec.

Eastbourne were missing several players through injury or various other commitments, so manager Gary Taylor was again forced into his team selection.

Dynamos started off the game pretty brightly, they played some neat football as they tried to fashion an opening. The game was an evenly matched affair with both teams trying to find ways to unlock the others defence but never really testing the keeper.

There was a period when nothing seemed to go Dynamos way, and it started with a Wadhurst goal. A neat turn from a Wadhurst midfielder enabled him to get away from to Dynamos players before getting in a cross to the back post where three Wadhurst players were waiting. The ball fell to one player clearly handled the ball when trying to control it with his chest before getting a shot away the beat Martin Bell in the Eastbourne goal.

The referee waved away Eastbourne protests at the handball as he said he didn't see it because another player was in his way. He did eventually confer with his linesman, but he also couldn't clearly see and the goal was awarded.

Dynamos tried to force their way back into the game but Wadhurst had clearly gained confidence from the goal. Every Dynamo tackle, while fair, seemed to be penalised with a free kick. Mark Likeman went close with a free kick, which took a slight deflection off the wall.

Darren Vine also had an effort from outside the area go just wide as Dynamos attempts got closer but still failed to really test the keeper.

Dynamos soon found themselves level when Neil Taylor helped on a cross which Jamie Drummond got to first and saw off the attentions of the defender and chipped the ball past the oncoming keeper to see the ball loop on into the back of the net just inside the post.

Drummond nearly had a second when Taylor won a header on the edge of the area after an attempted Wadhurst clearance, the ball landed just over the shoulder of Drummond and his first time shot went high over the goal.

The home side started the second half as they finished the first. They attacked down the wings but again didn't really fashion the sort of chances to test the keeper.

The game continued to be more of a midfield battle, with there being very few chances on goal. As the game wore on, Wadhurst had more and more of the ball and spent more and more time in the Eastbourne half. But for most of it Dynamos looked comfortable. But both sets of players got involved in silly bickering with other players and supporters and officials off the pitch.

In the end it was Wadhurst who managed to find the break through with only about 10 minutes left. They broke down the right and the first shot was saved by Martin Bell, but the lost ball was fired straight back in by the lone player waiting at the back post who couldn't really miss.

With very little time left, Dynamos pushed for an equaliser but it didn't look like they were going to get it. In the end Wadhurst had secured the victory and they leapfrog Dynamos in the league. Eastbourne suffered their second league defeat of the season with more bad news coming as it was revealed to the players that manager Gary Taylor had finished being in charge of his last game for Dynamos due to work commitments.
