Eastbourne Dynamos had a weekend off from league action when they faced Hollington in the East Sussex League Cup. Dynamos had a few players pull out in the morning, so Dayle Courtier, who was looking for a few minutes at the end of the game, was thrown into the mix.
The two sides played out the game in terrible weather, in which only one other East Sussex League game survived.
The visitors had the first chance on goal, but that went just wide. Both sides tried to play neat possession football even in this weather.
Hollington had the games first goal, as Dynamos failed to react to the loose ball and the visitors broke down the right and the Hollington striker finished well into the far side of the net.
Dynamos were soon level, a long ball forward was controlled well by Neil Taylor who managed to level both keeper and defender on the floor before picking his spot.
Both sides had chances after that, but failed to take them, and even then they were only half chances. Both sides battled out the rest of the half.
The second half saw the weather get slightly worse, and both sides battled with the crosswind. Chances were few and far between, but Hollington had the best chance of the half when they broke down a Dynamos attack and countered themselves. Martin Bell raced out his goal and made a brilliant one on one save to keep the scores level.
With 15 minutes to go, the visitors went ahead for the second time. The worked the ball down the right, before working it across the area. The move finished with the unmarked player at the back post putting the ball away from 6 yards.
As Eastbourne pushed for an equaliser, time was running out, and the visitors used the extra space to put the game beyond any doubt with a third when their forward managed to see off the attention of the Dynamos defender before ending with a very good finish into the far corner.
Dynamos injury list continues to grow, and will look forward to the Christmas break to get some players back.
