Eastbourne Dynamos faced Beulah Baptists in an away game switched to Old Town Rec because of an unfit Beulah pitch.
Dynamos were struggling with a long list of players absent. On a very cold evening, Dynamos took a while to get going and settled to some new positions. Beulah could have opened the scoring early on but for some last ditch defending.
Eastbourne managed to soon settle and looked comfortable at the back. Dynamos were beginning to push forward and looked to create some openings. Dynamos first attempt was a free kick from the right, which went through the wall but was palmed round the post by the keeper.
Jamie Drummond came closes for Dynamos when his effort hit the post before bouncing back into the keeper arms.
Dynamos had a few half chances, but failed to make the most of their possession they had. Beulah were starting to cause Dynamos a few problems as well, but they were thwarted by the Dynamos defence and Martin Bell in the Dynamos goal.
The second half saw the game become a little stretch and more open. Both defences found themselves with more work and there were more chances.
Dynamos finally broke the deadlock when Dean Pugh managed to win the ball before running down the right wing followed by a deep cross which was knocked back in by Drummond to Neil Taylor. Taylors initial shot was blocked by the defender by the ball feel to Pugh who was waiting at the back post for him to stab the ball home.
Dynamos now needed to hold onto the lead for a few minutes and settle. The referee missed a handball by Simon Burke in the penalty area, which sparked fierce protests from the Beulah players.
Beulah did get awarded a penalty not long after though, but this was somewhat harsh. A header down by a Beulah player hit Mark Likeman, whose arms were by his side, but the referee awarded a penalty anyway which the Beulah striker finished well into the top left hand corner.
Dynamos managed to put themselves back in the lead when everyone missed a cross from the left, Dean Pugh was first to the loose ball but was brought down by the chasing defender and the referee awarded a penalty which Neil Taylor coolly dispatched. The goal was Dynamos 100 competitive goal.
Both teams had a hat full of chances to add to the scoring, but some poor finishing coupled with some brilliant defending and goalkeeping by both sets of players ensured the score remained the same.
As the game neared the end, it became very open and end to end stuff when both teams had good chances, but in the end Dynamos managed to hold onto their slender lead for all three points, which was much needed following a recent run of poor results.
