Eastbourne Dynamos looked to build on last week's performance as they faced Hawkhurst United at Old Town. Hawkhurst currently sit second in the table and have only lost once in the league this season. Dynamos feel they should have come away with more when the two teams meet in the reverse fixture earlier in the season. This game was to be totally different, and Dynamos had proved that within the first 5 minutes of the game when they looked the more likely to score going forward, and Darren Vine proved that theory right when he put the Home side ahead. Good work down the right ended with a cross that was just behind Lloyd Taylor, who managed to tee up Vine whose first time shot from just inside the area found its way into the far right hand corner. Dynamos had the early possession, and they managed to make it count when Mark Likeman's long ball forward looking for Neil Taylor looked to have been blocked by the last defender. But the defender slipped at the last second and Taylor managed to latch onto the loose ball and calmly slot it past the keeper. The visitors got more into the game as the second half wore on, but Martin Bell was never really troubled as Dynamos strong defence looked ready for anything. Hawkhurst were forced into an early change when their right back went to challenge Dean Pugh for a high ball, but the defender came of worse and had clearly broken his nose. As half time neared, Dynamos looked more likely to add to the score line, and Pugh should have really got a goal when he managed to beat the last defender, but his shot was inches over the bar. Dynamos started off the second half like they finished the first. They game became stretched which allowed both teams more chances. Hawkhurst went closes when after a short corner, a short from the left looked to be heading in but for a brilliant save by Martin Bell. Dynamos put the game to rest when a cross from the right was controlled well by Neil Taylor and high pass into the box was met by Pugh who got there first to head over then keeper and into the net. Dynamos continued to push forward looking for more goals and it came when Dynamos had a corner and Lloyd Taylor got to the ball in the area. His shot on the turn skimmed off the cross bar but was picked up by Stephen Fletcher who set up Mark Likeman to navigate his shot through a crowd of players and into the far corner. Dynamos had secured another win, and another clean sheet. Lets hope that all the players stay fit and that this form continues because at the moment it's enjoyable to watch. |
