Eastbourne Dynamos faced bottom of the League JC Tackleway for the third and final time this season and hoped to make it 3 wins out of 3. Dynamos end to the season seems to be more of a struggle with getting a team together with injuries, work and Holidays seem to be keeping players unavailable for selection. The first half Dynamos main aim was to keep a clean sheet while playing against the strong wind, on a hard, small pitch. The visitors didn't help themselves by not keeping the ball on the deck, and giving away possession far to easily in their own half. The home side spent long periods in the Eastbourne half but failed to make it count, while Dynamos were trying to play football but this just wasn't the pitch to do it on. Tackleway had a number of chances on goal, but some fantastic saves by Martin Bell kept them out. Every time Dynamos attacked they were offside, much to the dismay of some of the Eastbourne players. Eastbourne only managed to make a couple of chances but where either off target or the keeper saved. Eastbourne managed to get to half time all square, and knew that playing into the wind would be very hard for the home side. Dynamos made this count and pinned Tackleway in their own half, but Dynamos could only force throw-ins and corners, not the all important first goal. Tackleway were soon finding it just as hard as Eastbourne did to get the ball up the pitch against the wind, but when they did, it allowed Eastbourne to break the deadlock. Martin Bell's long kick up field was latched onto by Jamie Drummond and he volley past the keeper and high into the net to give Dynamos the lead. Eastbourne were gaining confidence and searched for the second goal. They went close on a number of occasions, including the defender clearing the ball of the line following Dave Ingrams long throw, and Dave Moran attempting the lob the keeper for just inside the Tacklway half but the ball bounced over the keeper. Tackleway were still making chances and Martin Bell still had a lot of work to do to keep his clean sheet. Neil Taylor added a third following a mix up between the defender and the goalkeeper, in which Neil Taylor stole the ball from the keeper and slotted into an empty net to give Dynamos a 2-0 lead. Lloyd Taylor went close to adding a third but his effort went just wide of the post. Tackleway went very close to closing the gap. A dipping free-kick was well saved by Bell, but the Tackleway striker picked up the loose ball and somehow shot wide of the target when it looked like a certain goal. Neither team could add to the score line and the game finished 2-0. Dynamos have now scored 7 goals against Tackleway this season, conceding none. Three games left now, and they are against the top three sides in the league. |
