The first derby of the season for Dynamos saw them face Eastbourne Fishermen's at Whitley Rec. Mark Goodwin was making his debut while, Dayle Courtier was also making his first appearance of the season.
Dynamos settled down the quickest and were instantly trying to test the keeper. Fishermen's were having to counter attack to move up the pitch, by the visitors defence held a high line and keeper Martin Bell swept up everything else.
Eastbourne were playing some nice football at times, but couldn't find the final ball that would give them the goal they needed. It eventually came about 15 minutes into the half, when Dean Pugh collected the ball on the left, and lofted in an angled ball towards the back post, the keeper misjudged the ball and it sailed in over his, dipping just under the bar for the first goal, and Pugh's second in as many games.
It wasn't long before Dynamos had extended their lead, Mark Goodwin shot for the edge of the area crept in just beyond the reach of the keeper, hitting the post on it's way in.
Fishermen's then rallied and pressed forward towards the end of the half, as they enjoyed more of the ball. Martin Bell hand to make a couple of saves, while the Dynamos defence had to defend well, with Richard Payne and Simon Burke putting in some good challenges, Darren Vine made sure nothing came down the right, with Glenn Taylor organising well.
The visitors best move of the match had Courtier finding Goodwin, who then picked out Lloyd Taylor on the left whose cross was just a little too high for Jamie Drummond at the back post.
The home side did have the ball in the net, but the referee had already blown for offside, after the Dynamos defence had all moved up the field.
Dynamos had got to half time with their 2-0 lead intact, as Fishermen's were getting into the game more, and where looking more of a threat, but about 10 minutes into the second half, the visitors had extended their lead.
Pugh's cross from the left was met by Drummond at the back post who volleyed in. The goal settled the team and they managed to push on, and it wasn't long before they had added another.
Goodwin managed to get round the full back, this time on the right, his shot from such a tight angle was diverted in by the keeper, who it basically hit before going in.
Dynamos then conceded, and the Fishermen's pacey forward had been a threat all game, but this time he managed to get the ball before the onrushing keeper. Martin Bell this time was not quick enough to the ball, but did manage to force the player out wide, but he managed to squeeze his shot in before Glenn Taylor could get back and divert the danger.
With time running out, Goodwin managed to create another chance out of nothing. He picked up the ball in the middle of the park, and raced for goal with a defender in chase. He then slipped the ball past the advancing keeper for Dynamos fifth goal of the game.
Dynamos did have a couple more chances, but failed to hit the target, while the hosts had not given up and Dynamos were forced to defend some long throws and a series of corners. But in all, once Dynamos had their two-goal lead, they looked comfortable and always looked like scoring.
This was their best performance of the season, but still know that they have not reached top gear, this is clear when some players were still unhappy with conceding a goal.
