Beulah Baptists were visitors to Old Town Rec this week as Dynamos returned to league action. Stephen Fletcher was replaced with Mark Goodwin, will Alex Speirs came in for Dayle Courtier, Ben Curwood replaced Simon Burke at left back, as Burke took his position between the sticks in place of Martin Bell who was unavailable.
Beulah started brightly, with Eastbourne trying to settle to new positions, but luckily it didn't take long and they managed to keep the visitors away from goal.
Dynamos were soon looking very good going forward, but Jamie Drummond missed a good chance to give Dynamos the lead.
It was the visitors who took the lead, when the Baptists midfield won the ball in the middle of the park before breaking forward, Dynamos failed to clear their lines and their striker scored from an angle, beating Burke at the near post.
Dynamos didn't let heads drop and created a few chances, with Drummond being guilty of missing the best ones. But it was Drummond who managed to redeem himself when he managed to guide the ball past the keeper and into to far corner.
The host's continued to miss good chances to take the lead, with Dean Pugh and Mark Goodwin both being guilty.
Eastbourne did manage to take the lead when Lloyd Taylor was quickest to the ball, finding Drummond on the right who then found Neil Taylor who lifted the ball over the keeper and into the net.
Dynamos were starting to show the kind of football they are capable of, but the finishing touch just wasn't there.
The defence started to settle and looked solid, with Richard Payne and Glenn Taylor both looking comfortable at the back, and Darren Vine settling well into his new right back position. Ben Curwood was also battling well down the left as well.
Beulah came back into the game in the second half, as the host's looked like they were still in the changing rooms. The Dynamos goal was under pressure for a long period of time in the second half, but some confident goalkeeping and some good defending ensured that Eastbourne kept their lead in the game.
Towards the end of the half, Dynamos were seeing some of the chances that they were getting in the first half, but their difficulty in converting them into goals remained, with Pugh hitting the post from just inside the area, and Neil Taylor couldn't get enough on his header from Lloyd Taylor's cross.
Eastbourne hearts were in mouth as Beulah missed possibly the best chance of the game with only 10 minutes remaining, when their midfielder got behind the Eastbourne defence and his low cross was some how lifted over the Dynamos goal by the Baptists player at the back post.
Eastbourne will feel they probably deserve their victory, with their first half performance possibly their best footballing display for a long time. The win lifts Dynamos into third place, with a visit to Mayfield next week.
