Dynamos travelled to the Hastings to play league leaders Cinque Ports, with Eastbourne were looking to do the double over the leaders.

With Glenn Taylor missing, Stephen Fletch took the captain's armband and lead a team that worked tirelessly through a very entertaining and well played game.

The game was end to end stuff, although it was the host's that came closest to scoring in the first half, but they failed to really test Martin Bell, as they seemed to want too much time on the ball in the area and too many touches, which allowed the Dynamos defence the opportunity to clear any danger.

Cinque Ports were clearly the more confident team from being top of the league in the opening part of the game, but the Eastbourne work rate and good defending made sure that the visited kept the ball as far away from Bell's goal as they could. Shaun Peters organised the defence well, while Richard Payne was his usual reliable self and Darren Vine and Simon Burke played very well down either wing. Stephen Fletcher and Alex Spiers were covering every blade of grass in the middle, working really well together.

Eastbourne started to put more pressure on the Cinque goal towards the end of the half, but the keeper claimed anything in the air. Jamie Drummond came close to opening the scoring after good work down the right by Mark Goodwin, he picked out Taylor who slotted the ball through to Drummond who skimmed the side netting with his shot.

The second half saw Dean Pugh and Goodwin continue to run with the ball down either wing and it was looking like it was the visitors who were more likely to open the scoring.

About 15 minutes into the second half, Eastbourne did take the lead, Peters took a free kick near the half way line and found Pugh down the left. His first touch controlled the ball before he knocked it back over the defenders head, as the defender turned to position himself, Pugh had knocked it back over his head and was behind the Ports defence, his cross found Taylor at the back post who headed the ball brilliantly into the top right hand corner.

The visitors could have doubled their lead not long afters. Pugh was first to a ball over the top, and with the keeper out of goal, managed to knock the ball back into the danger zone, but Drummond could not keep his volley on target. Dynamos were enjoying a good period of pressure, but needed to make it count with a second.

As the game wore on, Cinque pushed further forward and exerted more pressure on the Eastbourne goal. Martin Bell wasn't being tested, but Dynamos defensive line was being pushed further and further back.

Ports eventually broke through as they played their way through the heart of the visitors before their midfielder slotted past Bell into the bottom left hand corner.

Dynamos needed to keep their heads with a lot of time left to play and make sure they didn't concede a second. As they game neared the end, the game swung from end to end and either team could have snatched a late winner.

Goodwin tracked back and won the ball back with a good tackle, but the ref awarded strange free kick and Cinque's effort hit the bar as it went over.

Dynamos had two good chances to win the game, one was were Pugh slipped a ball down the left for Drummond who only had the keeper to beat, but as the keeper rushed out to narrow the angle, Drummond's shot went just wide of the post.

Eastbourne's second chance came when Drummond turned provider and slotted in Godwin who rounded the keeper before him and Tom Tawell tried to make sure that the ball went in, but Cinque managed to clear it off the line and eventually a 1-1 draw was the final score.

The Eastbourne players were disappointed in the dressing room not to have come away with all three points, feeling that they had the better of the chances, but should be proud with a 1-1 draw in a very good game where both teams played good football.
