Match Report

Bottom of the table Ninfield United visited the Rec this weekend as Dynamos continued their end of season run in.

A few changes to the team allowing players minutes on the pitch seems only fair with nothing really to play for other than pride and trying to finish as high up as possible.

Eastbourne kicked off and looked incredibly shaky, with silly mistakes and a sense that nobody actually wanted the ball nearly cost Dynamos an early goal. But they soon settled and were making all the early running, with Craig Fullerton and Alex Speirs marshalling the midfield, and Dean Pugh and Lewis Colegate causing the full backs problems with their pace.

Pugh and Jamie Drummond had a couple of half chances that went over and wide respectively, before Stephen Fletcher continued his good scoring run against Ninfield. Pugh's run into the box was halted just to the left of the area when the defender fouled him. Neil Taylor's low cross from the resulting free kick was met by the United defender. Pugh was on hand to block the clearance and Fletcher latched onto the loose ball to fire home on the spin.

Dynamos continued to press forward, looking to extend their lead. Colegate went close when Speirs diagonal ball found him at the back post, but he was closed down quickly and Ninfield cleared. Drummond also had an effort go just wide of the post as he shot from the right of the area after beating his marker.

Fletcher doubled his and Eastbourne's tally when ho rose highest to head home Pugh's corner. Fletcher has now scored six against Ninfield this season.

Eastbourne's defence hand now settled, with Ben Curwood and Darren Vine both looking solid at full back, while Simon Burke and Fletcher where now looking more comfortable as a new look pairing at the heart of the defence.

Martin Bell was only called into minor action to collect lose ball's and general tidy up, even though Ninfield posed more of a threat as the second half came to a close.

Dynamos hadn't played to their best ability in the first half, and were probably fortunate to have taken their chances and be in the lead.

The second half was more end to end stuff as play got stretched. Eastbourne continued to look to extend their lead, while manager Steve Newson used the two goal advantage to give the subs a run out as early as he could.

Soon after all the subs had been used, Eastbourne got their third goal. Fullerton and Pugh exchanged passes down the left before Pugh's low cross found Taylor, whose route to goal was blocked. Substitute Tom Tawell followed up to riffle the ball home high past the keeper for his first goal for the club.

Dynamos closed out the game, with Fletcher having a decent effort blocked, and Lloyd Taylor shooting just wide after a good pass from Neil Taylor. Vine also had a chance for glory, but snatched at his shot and failed to keep it on target.

Eastbourne now move above their next opponents, Red Lion, in the league to fourth. Dynamos have no game next week and return to action on the 28th. Dynamos now only have two games left of the season.
