Eastbourne Dynamos kicked of their preseason with a friendly away to Battle Baptists. On a warm day, Dynamos started off chasing the ball as their hosts settled quickest.

It was battle who opened the scoring with a good shot from the left, Martin Bell had good reactions to stop the ball, but the linesman had already seen it creep just over the line.

Eastbourne responded well and Stephen Fletcher powered through the last defender, managing to stay on his feet before poking the ball past the keeper.

Dynamos were soon in front when they played their best football of the game, working the ball well before Neil Taylor lined the ball up for Fletcher who curled the ball just over the keeper and into the net for a good team goal.

Eastbourne were now really into the game and made good work down the wings, before loosing Alex Speirs to a nasty injury that hopefully wont keep him out for long.

Battle equalised just before half time when Dynamos failed to clear their lines when given the chance. Battle stole the ball and finished well with only Bell to beat.

The second half was more even, with Eastbourne managing to keep Battle at bay more than in the first half. Dynamos had a couple of chances to take the lead, with Glenn Taylor having a long range effor tipped onto the bar, while Fletcher went close again.

Battle scored two goals, which were poor from Dynamos point of view. Slack marking and failure to close players down meant that the hosts were able to cross from either wing into the danger zone for they players to poke part Martin Bell who was left completley exposed.

Battle ran out 4-2 winners. Eastbourne will be happy with the way they played in parts of the game. Dynamos still have players to come back into the squad, and next week will see an even tougher game in Old Town Athletic.
