Eastbourne Dynamos secured their first ever-competitive win against Eastbourne League side, The Parkfield. Dynamos where playing the first of two games in a row at home, before getting back to league action at the end of the month. David Moran replaced the injured Simon Burke in goal, but was rarely testing in a first half that was dominated by Eastbourne. Crisp passing, confidence and holding onto the ball had been only been seen in patch's in previous games. This was the first time Dynamos had been able to sustain the same level of play for long periods of time. Dynamos could have taken an early lead on 3 minutes when Jeff Ferguson put Lloyd Taylor through on goal, but the keeper saved well to keep the scores level. Dynamos did manage to take the lead on 5 minutes when Ferguson let fly with an unstoppable curling shot from outside the area the went over the keeper and into the top left hand corner. Stephen Fletcher nearly repeated the first goal a couple of minutes later, but his shot went wide of the post. Fletcher missed a second chance on 15 minutes when Neil Taylor sent him on his way, but the Parkfield keeper saved well again. On 18 minutes, Darren Vine had an attempt on goal that sailed just over the bar as Eastbourne piled on the pressure. Neil Taylor doubled the Dynamos lead on 21 minutes when he controlled the ball well in the Parkfield area, before turning and shooting past the diving keeper and into the net. Dynamos had to make an early change when Lloyd Taylor, who had been suffering from migraines all week and was a doubt before the game, was replaced by Lee Roberts. 34 minutes was when Dynamos increased their lead when Fletcher run straight through the Parkfield defence. He got lucky when his first shot was blocked by a defender, but the ball landed back at his feet before he calmly passed the ball under the keeper for his first goal for the Club and Dynamos third of the game. The Parkfield keeper was booked before play could be restarted after he kicked the ball away and into the nearby tennis courts. Dynamos managed to increase their lead just before half time, a cross into the area looked to be going out for a goal kick, but N. Taylor managed to pull the ball back for Fletcher to knock in his second of the game. Parkfield insisted the ball had gone out of play, and they probably had a case, but the referee awarded the goal. The second half was very different, Parkfield made a few changes and seemed a lot more assured at the back, which Dynamos found hard to get round. Parkfield were also becoming more of a threat up front as well. The game became more of a midfield battle, with neither team being able to gain control of the game. Wayne Burke was involved in an ugly incident when the Parkfield play seemed to stamp on him before having a kick at him, but the Referee missed it and the game continued. N. Taylor had the best chance of the second half when the ball fell to him on the edge of the area, but couldn't divert the spinning ball goal-wards enough as it went just wide. Dave Moran, who had been mostly a spectator during the game, was called into action in the last five minutes as Parkfield continued to get closer to getting on the score sheet. Moran made a good block to keep Parkfield off the score sheet. Dynamos did concede in the last minute when Moran failed to clear a back pass in Paul Robinson style, except Moran did manage to connect with the ball, except it landed at the feet of the oncoming striker, who took his time before chipping the ball over Moran who dived at his feet. Eastbourne Dynamos did manage to win their first ever competitive game, and will look to build on this. Eastbourne will need to produce their first half performance for a lot longer than just the first half. Dynamos will play another Eastbourne League side in the second round in the form of Polegate Town. |
