Eastbourne Dynamos had the short visit to Eastbourne Sports Park as they took on local rivals The Red Lion. Manager Gary Taylor made a few changes from the side that defeated The Yew Tree last week. Dynamos started well, and managed to cope with the Red Lion's pacey forwards well early on. There were very few chances to speak of, but the Red Lion missed a few chances before taking the lead on 20 minutes when they quick forward got to the ball before the Dynamos defence and Goalkeeper, before rounding both and slotting into an empty net. Up until this point, Eastbourne had defended well. But it was the Red Lion who looked more likely to score, and hit the post on 30 minutes before Wayne Burke cleared. Dynamos looked like they had equalised on 36 minutes, but the Red Lion keeper tipped over the bar with Burke waiting. The Red Lion doubled their lead on 40 minutes when a cross from the right was meet in the six-yard box and headed in. There were even less chances in the second, but Dave Moran was called into action on a few occasions, but it was Dynamos who had the best chance of the half when a cross from the right was met by Dynamos captain Mark Likeman, who headed the ball against the post. Moran made a good save in the last minute to keep the score at 2-0, but Dynamos will be disappointed with their performance as much as the result as they know they can play so much better than they did. |
