Eastbourne Dynamos completed their preseason with a 4-2 victory over a good Eastbourne Rangers side.
The first half saw both sides play some neat football in a very even game, but both sides created only a few chances.
It was Dynamos who took the lead when striker Sean Corson collected a long pass from the right and managed to get round the last defender before slotting past the keeper.
Corson added a second from the spot after George Lavender was fouled in the area.
Rangers pulled one back from the spot just before half time. Captain Christian Corder-Courtier fouled the Rangers striker in the area, although it looked like he may have got some of the ball. Bell saved the first penalty, but the referee ordered it to be retaken from encroachment. The striker made no mistake with the second attempt as he fired it into the top left hand corner.
The second half saw Dynamos enjoy more possession, but it wasn't until midway through the half that Eastbourne extended their lead. Dean Pugh's cross from the left caught the keeper backtracking, and although he got two hands to the ball, couldn't keep hold of it as it dropped over his head and into the net.
Dynamos second about 10 minutes later was pure class. Pugh received the ball in the middle of the park and evaded two players before finding Alex Speirs. The midfield man then played it wide left to Neil Taylor who managed to get round the defender before laying off a beautiful pass to Speirs in the middle of the box who curled the ball with the outside of his right boot into the roof of the net, the keeper was only able to get fingertips to the ball.
Minutes from the end, Dynamos conceded an unlucky own goal. A free kick came in from the right and was headed goalwards by the big Rangers defender, Corder-Courtier attempted to clear the ball, only for it to smack Mike Stenning on the back and loop back over everyone and into the net.
There was still time after the restart for Speirs to be sent from the field after what looked a harmless challenge. Rangers took the kick only for the whistle to be blown for full time.
Dynamos have recruited some good new players during the summer, but have lost a number of first team players from their league winning side last year. Next week will be the real test for this new look team.
