Eastbourne Dynamos took on League Leaders Little Common at Old Town Rec Saturday. Manager Gary Taylor made a few changes from the side that lost to Red Lion last week. Martin Bell made his debut in goal, while Gary King and Dean Pugh made the starting line-up. Jeff Ferguson also returned after missing last week's game. Dynamos flew out the blocks and looked more confident than they have done in a while. Lloyd Taylor could have given his side the lead but his shot was tipped over by the keeper. Mark Likeman then managed to get on the end of Pugh's corner, but was well saved by the keeper. Little Common gradually got into the game and showed glimpses off the good football that has perched them on top of the table. They scored on 40 minutes when their pacy forward managed to get round they Dynamos defence. His shot was on target and had Bell beaten in the Dynamos goal and found its way into the net despite Likeman's attempt to clear the ball. The game continued to be very evenly matched game and anyone watching would not have been able to tell which team was top and which team was bottom of the league. Dynamos made a substitution on 60 minutes when Dave Moran replaced Gary King in a straight swap at right back. Dynamos keeper Martin Bell was rarely tested but made a good save on 75 minutes to deny the Little Common striker. Eastbourne Dynamos best chance of the game came shortly after when Ferguson raced through on goal, beating the offside trap, but his shot was brilliantly saved by the Albion keeper. The keeper was unable to hold the ball and when it fell to L. Taylor, it looked like he was going to be punished. The Keeper again made another great one handed save and was they launched downfield by the Albion defender. They game was becoming stretch and Dynamos where forcing the game while Little Common always looked dangerous on the counter attack. Stephen Fletcher could have snatched a point for Eastbourne when he controlled the ball well on the edge of the area before hitting a shot on the spin that went just wide of the post. The final whistle went and Dynamos had been defeated once again, and although the performances are improving every week and their latest was probably their best so far, the League table depends on points. Dynamos will have to wait for their chance to climb up the table as the Second Round of the Eastbourne Cup's while occupy Eastbourne for the next couple of weeks. |
