Eastbourne Dynamos included 3 new faces as they took on relegation rivals The Hurst on Saturday after a two week break. Sam Fry and Conor Clyne made the starting line up at left back and centre midfield respectively. Martin Bell started in goal with Christian Corder-Courtier and Mark Unsworth in defence, with Damien Mills at right back. Alex Speirs partnered Clyne in midfield with Lewis Colegate on the right and Dean Pugh on the left. Neil Taylor and Sean Corson upfront with Dave Moran and Robert Thorogood, the third new face, on the bench.

Dynamos started brightly and settled well into their new look side. Eastbourne were quick to hassle and close down players as things looked encouraging for the visitors. Hurst looked dangerous from set pieces.

It was the visitors who created the first few chances, with Pugh hitting one effort over after the ball sat up nicely following Corson's cut back. While Corson also saw an effort go wide.

Hurst nearly took the lead after beating the offside trap, but Bell managed to save well at the second attempt. He also managed to parry away under pressure as the ball came down under the bar.

Clyne saw a half volley dip just over the bar from outside the area as Dynamos upped the pressure as the half wore on. Taylor then saw a header go wide following Colegates cross from the right.

Eastbourne then took a deserved lead when Colegate crossed low from the right and both Corson and Taylor coming into the six yard box trying to get on the end of it. Taylor had one attempt blocked, but after coming off a few bodies, managed to fall back at his feet and he didn't miss the second attempt as he tucked it away.

Things then boiled over just before half time. Taylor was trying to get behind Hurst defence, and with both players going for the ball, Taylor was adjudged to have fouled the defender when all it looked like was a tangle of legs. The Hurst defender then raised both hands and put them round Taylor's neck. The Eastbourne striker did well not to retaliate and keep his cool, but the referee then infuriated Eastbourne players when he only showed the defender a yellow card.

Things kicked off again when Pugh tackled the Hurst leftback, and as the two players fell to the ground, the Hurst player put his arms around the Eastbourne winger in a headlock, before swinging a punch in his direction. The referee baffled everyone by awarding Hurst the free kick because of the ''foul'', and booked Pugh for it, even after asking the linesman what he flag for and he had given it the other way.

This seemed to fire Hurst up and Dynamos struggled to control the game after this, managing to get to half time with their lead intact.

The second half didn't see Dynamos recover as Hurst controlled the game, wasting numerous chances to draw level.

Eastbourne were left to attack on the break, creating a couple of chances to increase their lead. Pugh managed to beat the offside trap and cut back for Corson, whose effort was blocked before being cleared by the defence.

Hurst then levelled when Dynamos failed to clear the ball and got caught in possession. The side worked the ball into the box and the striker fired past Bell.

Colegate then wasted two glorious chances, the second when three others players were better placed.

Hurst looked the team more likely to take all three points as the game entered the final few minutes, with a couple of Eastbourne players putting bodies in the line of fire to block attempts on goal.

With the 90 minutes up, a long punt forward by Eastbourne saw Taylor chase what looked a lost cause. But the ball stayed in and he cut inside. With no other options, he went for goal at the tightest of angles, it hit the near post before sneaking inside the far post to give Dynamos the lead and all three points.

There was just enough time for Hurst to kick off and Dynamos put in two tackles before the final whistle went, giving Dynamos great hope of surviving relegation.

Eastbourne will be pleased that their feat is in their own hands, and with the first half performance which saw the visitors play some nice football, but the second was nowhere near good enough and will need to improve if they are to take any more points for their remaining three games.
