Eastbourne Dynamos looked to bounce back from last weeks disappointing defeat when Magham Down visited the Rec this weekend. Manager Gary Taylor had a full strength side to pick from this week, a chose to keep faith with virtually the same starting eleven from last week. The opening few minutes saw Dynamos defending their goal and struggling to get the ball out of their own half. Magham Down's pacey striker was forced off in the early stages with what looked like a hamstring injury. Magham didn't really test Martin Bell in the Eastbourne goal, but Dynamos didn't help themselves by giving the ball away too many times in their own half. Midway through the first half, the visitors took the lead when Dynamos failed to deal with the ball in the middle of the park, and Magham managed to find their striker in the box with enough time and space to pick his spot. Dynamos tried to get straight back into the game and did become more of a threat up front, but the ball didn't seem to stick and Eastbourne could not sustain a meaningful amount of pressure to force a goal. Christian Courtier sent a shot from outside the area just over the bar, and Dean Pugh's low drive was scrambled away by the keeper and out for a corner. Pugh also had a good opportunity from Dave Moran's right wing cross, but failed to connect with the ball from just six yards out. Magham down went further ahead shortly after when Dynamos again seemed to lack any sort of fight and the visitors again found themselves one on one with Martin Bell before slotting the ball away. The second half was not much better for Eastbourne, as they soon found themselves further behind. Another through ball that Eastbourne failed to deal with ended with the Magham striker placing it into the goal. Another followed when Magham beat the offside trap from the right, and a neat chip evaded everyone and finished in the back of the net. Goalkeeper Martin Bell was forced off and replaced by Simon Burke after not being able to continue after receiving a knock on his ankle following a challenge in the first half. Dynamos then failed to deal with a cross from the right and the ball was headed into the Eastbourne goal at the back post. Neil Taylor's inclusion seemed to have given Dynamos more of an option up front, and the home side started to play the kind of football they know they can play. Dynamos pulled a goal back when Lloyd Taylor managed to divert the ball goal wards at the back post from and awkward position. Dynamos conceded another when Magham counter attacked and with Dynamos chasing back. The winger's pass to his team mate at the back post was intercepted when Mark Likeman's outstretched leg got in the way, but the ball bounced awkwardly and went over the line for Magham's sixth of the game. A neat one-touch passing move opened up Magham's defence and Stephen Fletcher placed the ball into the bottom right hand corner. Dynamos managed to get a third when Chris Milnes one a header on the half way line and the ball found it's way to Lloyd Taylor, Taylor managed to hold off his marker before playing a neat ball through to Dean Pugh who managed to beat the keeper to the ball and square it to Neil Taylor who controlled the ball well before blasting it into an empty net. Before play could resume, Magham Down's number 10 continued his argument with the referee and was shown a yellow card, this failed to calm him down and he continued, and talked his way into a Red Card and left the field early. Eastbourne will be disappointed because of the second defeat in a row, and that it took until they were 5-0 down before they started to fight for the ball. But they did show that when they want to, they can play some good football. |
