Dave Callard,

Mayfield were the latest visitors to Old Town Rec this week with Dynamos looking to gain revenge for the 1-0 defeat a few weeks ago in which Eastbourne dominated.

Dynamos started the game well and pressed forward with the help of the win behind them. Mayfield struggled to get the ball out there half but Dynamos needed to test the keeper.

Eastbourne had a few chances but Mayfield were defending well and the keeper was clearing up everything else the defence didn't.

Dynamos had a few corners but they came to nothing and but Mayfield were restricted to attacks on the break.

The deadlock was broken midway through the first half when Eastbourne worked the ball across the area well. Neil Taylor passed to Lloyd Taylor whose shot was blocked by the keeper. The ball broke to Dean Pugh who netted the rebound with the keeper out of position.

They say you are vulnerable after you score, somebody hadn't told Eastbourne this as it took only a couple of minutes to double their lead. Jeff Ferguson, who had been working well down the right side, put in another one of his dangerous crosses, with the area packed with defenders, they were able to head clear. But the ball fell to Darren Vine on the edge of the area who fired it goal wards to score his second goal of the season.

Mayfield where soon back in the game. Dynamos lost the ball in midfield and Mayfield used their advanced position to full effect. Dynamos were unable to clear and Mayfield worked the ball to the left and cross to the midfielder at the back post who headed in from close range.

Dynamos worked well and the Dynamos midfield were working well and the new look defence of Glen Taylor, Stephen Fletcher, Mark Likeman and Dayle Courtier, were comfortable. Eastbourne managed to stop a Mayfield comeback when they restored their two-goal advantage. Neil Taylor crossed from the right, the keeper fumbled the ball and Christian Courtier was there to acrobatically divert the ball over the line while picking up a knock to the head for his problems.

Just before half time, Eastbourne managed to put themselves firmly in the driving seat when a trademark surge forward from captain Mark Likeman ended with a cross into the box. Lloyd Taylor managed to get on the end of the cross and his header hit the bar before bouncing on the line, but Neil Taylor was on hand to head the ball into the net before the keeper to get to it.

The Mayfield defender said that Lloyd Taylor's initial header had crossed the line, but the referee awarded the goal Neil Taylor.

The second half saw a switch in fortunes as Dynamos now had to defend against the wind. Keeper Martin Bell was in good form as he made a couple of great saves to keep Mayfield's goal to just the one.

Eastbourne were now forced to attack on the break but where constantly thwarted by fouls which caused a bit of friction between the sides, with Neil Taylor on the receiving end of some very nasty tackles.

The defence seemed to be coping well but Mayfield were awarded a penalty after Dayle Courtier brought down the Mayfield winger inside the box, and also picked up a yellow card. Martin Bell repeated his heroics from last week with another penalty save, and also managed to stop the ball going over the line after his initial save.

Eastbourne continued to attack and could have wrapped up the game when Neil Taylor, Lloyd Taylor and Jeff Ferguson had chances but were either off target or stopped by the keeper.

Lloyd Taylor then went off injured after Mark Likeman went on another run before finding Taylor who went down with what looked like a hamstring injury. He was replaced by Dave 'Danger Man' Moran who worked tirelessly upfront.

Martin Bell was forced into a couple of super saves to keep Mayfield at bay. The final whistle went and Dynamos celebrated they biggest win yet in their short history. The win moves them closer to their target of avoiding relegation.
